Bailey’s Christmas Drink

Cocktail Recipe

All the fabulous flavors of the festive season in a glass, this beautiful Bailey’s Christmas drink is every bit the decadent dessert in luscious liquid form!

There’s something quintessentially Christmassy about the unique flavor of Bailey’s. Hence, any drink based on the iconic Irish cream is likely to come out more than a little moreish. It’s just that this particular Bailey’s Christmas drink is not only easy to make, but is also the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

Looking for festive cups and glasses to serve your drinks in? Here are a few options.

Sipping Bailey’s on ice at any time of year is an absolute joy.

Comprised of Irish whiskey blended with fresh cream, vanilla and cocoa, the resulting concoction is like nothing else on earth.

But it’s the way these flavors come together to create a seasonal vibe that makes Bailey’s such a guaranteed showstopper. Not to mention, a surprisingly versatile liqueur that can pave the way for a whole world of experimentation.

Bailey's Christmas Drink

Bailey’s Christmas Drink – A Dessert in a Glass

Let’s be frank. Bailey’s is not something you reach for when looking to serve up something light or understated. It may have a fairly modest ABV of 17%, but it is nonetheless a fully fledged dessert you can drink.

Plus, the fact that it contains just 17% alcohol makes it the perfect indulgence to enjoy at any time of day. At least, where Christmas and the festive season are concerned—times you can get away with a welcome afternoon libation.

At the risk of throwing shade at this particular recipe, you really don’t have to go nuts with Bailey’s to come up with something exceptional. Simply enjoying it in its natural form over ice is a dream come true.

But as Christmas is a time of creativity in the kitchen, you may as well broaden your horizons. The good news being that the recipe for this particular Bailey’s Christmas drink really couldn’t be easier.

And just as soon as you’ve thrown it together once, you can adjust and add to the recipe in any way you like to put your own signature spin on it.

Bailey's Christmas Drink

Bailey’s Christmas Drink – Ingredients and Method

The only supplies you are going to need to make a generous serving of this decadent drink are as follows:

  • 3 oz. Bailey’s, Irish cream
  • 1 oz. coffee liquor
  • 2 oz. gin
  • Dollop of whipped cream
  • Chocolate chips, for garnish

Throwing it all together doesn’t require any particular flare or skill, and the entire process takes a few seconds:

  1. Add some ice cubes in each glass, and pour in the Irish cream, coffee liquor and gin.
  2. Dollop some whipped cream on top and sprinkle with chocolate chips to garnish.
  3. Enjoy!

Chances are, the most surprising addition to the whole thing is the gin. If you were to mix the Bailey’s, the coffee liqueur and the cream, you would essentially come out with something akin to a White Russian. Not that this is a bad thing, but we’re looking for something slightly different here.

Adding a dash of gin to the mix brings an entirely new punch of flavor to the whole thing. Something that doesn’t sound like it would work on paper, but is actually a match made in heaven.

Again, particularly when looking to serve up something seriously festive for friends and family.

Bailey's Christmas Drink

Why Not Ditch the Glasses Entirely?

Bailey’s is a guaranteed show-stopper in its own right, but why not up the ante this year?

You already have the Bailey’s in stock.

This is a neat little hack you can use with any Christmas cocktail you like, though works particularly well with something rich and decadent. Given that you are adding a ton of extra chocolate into the mix, it really couldn’t be more at home with the recipe above.

Basically, all you need to do is make the recipe in exactly the same way. But instead of using glasses, rip the heads of a bunch of hollow chocolate reindeer and use them instead. Chill the reindeer first and leave some of the foil on to avoid sticky fingers.

And of course, don’t make the mistake of using this particular trick with hot drinks – you’ll soon regret it!

Bailey’s Hot Chocolate

Speaking of hot drinks, perhaps the only thing more comforting and festive than our Bailey’s cocktail above is the classic recipe for Bailey’s chocolate. A recipe that is open to interpretation, given how all you are doing is adding a measure of Irish cream to your favorite hot chocolate.

  • 50ml Bailey’s Original Irish Cream
  • 100ml Hot chocolate
  • Fresh whipped cream
  • Chocolate flakes
  • Marshmallows

As you’d expect, the method involves nothing more than throwing the whole thing together, before topping with a bunch of marshmallows, whipped cream and chocolate flakes.

Bailey’s Over Ice Cream

The beauty of Bailey’s lies in the way in which it can be used in its natural form in so many ways. You don’t need to get too creative to make full use of this inspired Irish innovation.

This year, why not swap your usual ice cream toppings for a lavish splash of Bailey’s? Or perhaps, drizzle a shot of the stuff of your favorite cakes, brownies and so on?

If it’s sweet and sultry, you can guarantee it will work perfectly with Bailey’s.

Liquid Tiramisu

Last up, a quick look at what’s perhaps the ultimate treat for the coffee-lovers in your life. Rather than serving coffee after your seasonal spreads, consider combining drinks with desserts in the dreamiest way possible.

The formula below results in what can only be described as a liquid version of tiramisu, which really is every bit as good as it sounds.

Everything you will need to put this recipe together is as follows:

  • 50ml Bailey’s
  • 70ml Mascarpone
  • 10ml Espresso
  • 10ml Sugar syrup

First up, combine the mascarpone with the espresso – both of which should be cool from the fridge. Throw in the Bailey’s and the vanilla syrup, before giving it a good stir.

Add to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice, or serve directly in cocktail glasses with a handful of ice cubes.

Feel free to decorate liberally with cream, chocolate sprinkles and so on, but this thing really doesn’t need to get any richer than it already is!
