Dig in and cook this big hamburger over your campfire and melt cheese to perfection over top. Add it to a huge sweet roll from the bakery and you’ve got yourself a massive hamburger or cheeseburger that you can share while telling ghost stories around the campfire!

Colossal Two-Pound Campfire Burger

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • Kosher sea salt
  • Garlic pepper seasoning
  • Hamburger toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, etc…

Directions

  • Form ground beef into two 1 pound patties
  • Season each patty with sea salt and garlic pepper seasoning; set aside
  • If you haven’t already done so, get your campfire going
  • Use a BBQ campfire grill grate for cooking the burgers; wrap grill grates in foil to prevent flareups if desired.
  • Place your burgers on the cooking surface
  • Create an aluminum foil ‘tent’ over top of the burgers to aid in even cooking
  • Once you see juice beginning to come out of the top of the burgers, it’s time to flip them
  • Check burgers with a thermometer, place cheese on the burgers once they near the finishing temp for your preference.
  • Cook your burgers all the way through, then pull them off the grill grate.
  • Place your burgers on the large sweet roll and top with toppings
  • Cut and serve!

  • Check burgers with a thermometer, place cheese on the burgers once they near the finishing temp for your preference.

Notes

For more even cooking, dimple each burger in the center and then place tin foil tent over burgers while on the fire.
