How To Make Cheesecloth Halloween Ghosts

Today we’re making two cheesecloth ghost decorations with a place to hold candy dishes for Halloween parties!

Walmart Shopping List:

  • Cheesecloth
  • Spray starch
  • School glue, hot glue, or tape
  • Black felt or silly Halloween face stickers
  • M&M’S® Milk Chocolate Candies Ghoul’s Mix
  • M&M’S® Peanut Chocolate Candies Ghoul’s Mix
  • Mars Chocolate Favorites Mix Stand-up Pouch (240 piece, for your party or trick-or-treaters)

Other items from around the house:

  • Scissors
  • Tall glass or cup
  • A Small balloon or another round object
  • Small candy dishes (ramekins work well for this)

Step 1

Place your balloon or another round object on top of the cup.

Drape the cheesecloth over the cup and eyeball your measurements.

Cut the cheesecloth into four squares large enough to cover the cup, providing two to four additional inches to drape around the base. This is where the candy dishes will be seated.

Step 2

Drape two cheesecloth squares over a cup that is topped with your round balloon or object.

Form your ghostly figure by working the cheesecloth with your hands.

Spread the cheesecloth out to create a good base so your Halloween ghost will stand upright.

Use your candy dishes to create small depressions at the base of the ghosts. Once you have formed your depressions, remove the candy dish and place it out of the way.

Step 3

Once you’ve moved the candy dish far out of the way, spray the cheesecloth ghost with several light coats of laundry starch.

You do want it to be fairly saturated with starch.

Step 4

Pick up a treat while you wait for the starch to dry!

Grab your favorite juice and one of the SNICKERS® minis bars, MILKY WAY® minis bars, TWIX® minis cookie bars, or 3 MUSKETEERS® minis bars from the Mars Chocolate Favorites (240 piece) Mix Stand-up Pouch.

Tip: If your starch isn’t drying as quickly as you’d like, carefully use a hairdryer to aid the drying process.

Step 5

Once your spray starch has dried, check to make sure it’s stiff enough to hold the ghostly shape. Touch up with starch as necessary.

Cut pieces of black felt into circles to create the ghost face. Attach using glue or tape.

We found fun Halloween face stickers while shopping at Walmart. So check for those too!

Think outside the box, use construction paper, pipe cleaners, or other fun craft materials. Your imagination is your only limitation!

If you secure the faces with tape, you’ll be able to swap them out. Spooky faces for the adult parties and silly faces for the kid’s parties!
