If you’re looking for an easy patriotic dessert, I have the best idea. Check out these 4th of July fruit kabobs that will really impress your guests.

There are so many delicious patriotic food ideas that I never run out of ideas to celebrate on holidays like Memorial Day and Independence Day.

Have you tried these patriotic cupcakes yet? How about this gigantic grilled red, white, and blue cookie?

Or, these patriotic stars are one of my favorite cake pops recipes. The colors are so much fun and kids absolutely love them.

Patriotic Dessert

Many people invite friends and family over to celebrate the summer patriotic holidays.

What better way to visit with friends than to have everyone over for a chicken barbecue or cookout?

Kick it up a notch with a classic New England cookout, complete with lobster and steamers! But, every good meal needs to have a dessert to finish the meal.

During the summer, fresh fruit is generally priced fairly inexpensively.

So, whether you pick it up at the grocery store or the farmer’s market, it’s a natural choice for a summer dessert.

But, if you want to do something a little bit different for a patriotic dessert, these 4th of July fruit kabobs are a colorful idea that everyone will enjoy.

Tools & supplies to make this recipe

This is one of my favorite kid-friendly patriotic desserts. And, the kids can get in on the fun of making them too.

You can find the fruit and marshmallows at the grocery store. And, I have linked to the other supplies on Amazon to make shopping easier.

While not required, I find that a strawberry huller makes removing the green part of the strawberry so much easier. I just love this one from Amazon.

Light 4th of July desserts

These 4th of July fruit kabobs are relatively low calorie since they are mostly made of fresh fruit.

If you want to cut out a few calories, you can look for sugar-free candy melts and sprinkles.

You can also opt for low carb or even keto marshmallows.

This dessert will be just as delicious and you can splurge on a second one if you want to.

How to make this patriotic dessert

This American-themed dessert only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Best fruit to add to a kabob

To keep this a red, white, and blue dessert, you should stick with blueberries and strawberries or raspberries.

But, if you just want to make festive fruit kabobs, you can always add these fruits.

  • Melon
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi
  • Mandarin orange slices
  • Grapes (green or red)
  • Mango

How do you display fruit kabobs?

They make special stands that you can get here on Amazon to place the skewers in.

This lets everyone take the kabob they want without a mess.

If you’d rather not buy something, you can just line a serving plate with a few lettuce leaves and arrange the kabobs on that.

Be sure to leave the edge of the skewer hanging off the plate to make picking them up easier.

Or, you can always choose a vase or a basket to hold the kabobs.

If you want something that’s waste-free, buy a watermelon and slice it in half.

Place the flat side down and then stick the skewers in the watermelon.

You can slice and enjoy the watermelon for dessert the next day.

Can I make this ahead of time?

You will want to make it up at least an hour before your party to allow the melted candy drizzle to solidify before serving.

But, don’t make it up too far ahead or the fruit may get soft or discolored.

For best results, plan to have these ready and in the refrigerator about an hour or two before it’s time to enjoy dessert.
