How to Make Leftover Turkey Casserole with Rice?

While the preparation of this dish requires around an hour, it’s not tough. You can easily make it with pantry ingredients and leftovers. I have further broken the recipe into different segments for you to follow quickly.

Step One

The first step of this recipe requires you to peel and wash vegetables like onion, leek, and carrot. After washing, dice the onion, leek, and carrot. Next, take out frozen peas and keep them on the counter for a while.

Considering the vegetables, you can cook rice. Make sure that the rice remains undercooked. After the desired cooking is done, take the rice in a bowl and wash it with cool water.

This step further requires you to heat a pan over medium heat. Once the pan has nicely heated, add olive oil and diced vegetable. Stir the veggies till nicely done, and add undercooked rice.

Step Two

After cooking diced onion, leek, carrots, frozen peas, and undercooked rice, it’s time to add spices. You can put oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. This way, your leftover turkey rice will taste wonderful.

You can complete step two by adding shredded turkey and sprinkling flour. Combine turkey and flour well with rice and vegetables so that everything gets spiced.

Once your turkey rice is ready, it’s time to add chicken broth to it. Transfer chicken broth with whole milk in a bowl. Combine them till the milk gets thickened.

After that, grease a casserole pan with butter and transfer turkey rice to it. Also, transfer chicken broth and milk mixture in the casserole pan. To add extra flavors, you can grate some cheese on the top.

Key Notes

  • If you wish to make this dish a little colorful, you can add a bowl full of diced red bell pepper.
  • Instead of leftover turkey, you can also use freshly cooked turkey. This way, you won’t have to wait for leftovers to prepare something utterly delicious and flavorful.
  • Do not compromise with the quantity of butter while greasing the pan because the rice might get a burnt flavor.

How To Store Leftover Dish?

If you cannot finish the leftover turkey casserole with rice, you can store it in the fridge for the next three to four days. Transfer the remaining turkey and rice to an airtight container

Instead of an airtight container, you can directly put the casserole in the fridge. Make sure that it’s packed correctly. While serving the leftover refrigerated dish, don’t forget to reheat in small portions till it gets hot.

What To Serve With Leftover Turkey Casserole With Rice?
