Directions

Let’s get started with our mason jar crafts.

At the bottom of the page, you’ll find more tutorials to walk you through creating different flower vases using mason jars!

Cut Shirts Into Strips

Cut a shirt into sections. The strips should measure 7 inches long by 1†wide.

We used 15-20 strips per jar. We saved the sleeves, buttons, and collars for future projects.

Attach Fabric To Mason Jar

There are actually two different ways you can attach the fabric strips to the inside of the jar.

You can apply the mod podge to the fabric and place it inside the jar or you can apply the mod podge to the jar and then smooth the fabric strip onto the jar.

Whichever way you choose to glue the fabric in, use the chopstick to help position the fabric inside the jar. This will keep your fingers less sticky!

Continue the process until the strips cover the inside of the jar.

Seal The Fabric

Once the strips have covered the entire inside of the jar, trim any excess fabric. Next, go ahead and seal the fabric with a coat of mod podge.

Before adding water or dry plants, allow the mod podge to dry completely.

Notes

You can use any clothing or fabric for this process, we just upycled old shirts.
There are two ways to apply the Mod Podge. 1) apply it to the inside of the jar. 2) apply it to the fabric and place the fabric inside the jar. Personally, I found the second option worked best for me.
