Are you the type of person who recreates memories with your family?
Sometimes we like to live in the past a little bit and there’s nothing wrong with that. Do you also love BBQ chicken drumsticks?
Today I’m reflecting back on a fond memory and recreating a recipe I remember well. A&W Root Beer BBQ sauce to go on our chicken!
Barbecued chicken with a delicious barbecue sauce created using A&W Root Beer!
Now, this weekend we are kicking back and relaxing at home.
We played yard games, sipped on cans of A&W Root Beer, and enjoyed company with friends.
Barbeque Memories
When I was younger, my family used to fire up the barbecue every chance we got.
From our grill at home to the grill at the beach. There was always charcoal burning! Making A&W Root Beer chicken on the grill… Now that’s a fun memory to keep!
Every weekend during the summer, and even some weeknights, we could be found at the beach.
Sometimes we’d grill at the beach on those park BBQ setups, you know what I’m talking about. A pole stuck in the ground with a grill sitting on top of it…
However, most of the time though, after the beach we’d go home to play games in the yard while dad got the grill going.
Tonight we’re going to kick back, light a fire after dinner and chill for a while, too.
We’d always swing by Walmart beforehand and pick up the ingredients for this easy recipe to make Root Beer BBQ sauce.
Walmart is just the place to be when you need something, and the staff is always friendly and courteous. You can make this sauce on the fly, too.
It’s only a few ingredients and you don’t need to cook it!
Get more inspiration here.
My dad loved to fire up the barbecue and cook delicious meals whenever time allotted. As you know, I’m the same way.
This summer I challenge you to recreate this recipe and make memories with your family and friends, too!
Of course, there was always plenty of soda around to sip on as well.
Rather than going to the beach today, we’re tossing around the cornhole bean bags and playing other yard games.
We love playing games outdoors and a great way to create new traditions!
A&W Root Beer’s 100th Anniversary!
As it’s A&W Root Beer’s 100th Anniversary, why not celebrate by creating savory memories with your family? Anything that’s been around that long must be good! We’re cooking up drumsticks, but of course this recipe can go on anything you wish. I know once the barbecue sauce crosses my lips, it’s like walking down memory lane.

Hey David, thanks for stopping by. I think it would work well in the slow cooker. Maybe add the sauce 3/4 of the way through cooking so it doesn’t cook off before it’s done? Have fun experimenting and come back and let us know how it turned out!
Do you think this would work in a slow cooker? ( crock pot)
Woohoo, it sounds like you’re on a fun camping trip! Enjoy making memories!! 🙂
How fun! We are on a camping trip as I write this. We are at El Capitan State Beach, just north of Santa Barbara, CA. AND I have all the ingredients on hand! We shall make this in the next day or two. Many thanks! 🌞
