Vodka Morning Cocktail

This vodka morning cocktail for brunch is the perfect choice when you’re hosting brunch. Try this vodka brunch cocktail the next time you’re having guests over.

When you’re hosting brunch, you want it to be a little bit more special than your standard breakfast or lunch recipe. It’s this awkward time of the day—Is it too early to have a drink? I personally don’t think so. A mid-morning drink is a great start to the day, if you ask me.

Brunch Morning Cocktail

Light, fruity beverages are perfect for a morning brunch cocktail.

So, it’s traditional to add orange juice cocktails or cranberry juice cocktails to mimic the traditional juice that’s served with breakfast.

What’s a good alcoholic morning cocktail?

There are many different brunch cocktails that will work. Pair a light, fruity juice with your favorite alcohol.

While I really love this cocktail that’s made with a combination of cranberry and orange juices, you might want to try one of these:

  • Watermelon Martini
  • Tequila Sunrise

That will really depend on the type of cocktail you’re serving.

Really, it doesn’t matter what type of glass you serve your brunch cocktails in. All that matters is that your guests enjoy the taste.

However, we’re serving our vodka cocktail in mason jar mugs.

So, feel free to use whatever you have in the kitchen.

You will need to start this recipe the night before. So, make sure you plan ahead if you want to serve this. It’s important that the ice cubes have enough time to freeze completely.

  • The night before, mix cranberry juice and orange juice together and pour them into the ice cube trays.
  • Then, the next morning, add ice cubes to each glass.
  • Next, add the vodka and the orange juice.
  • Finally, garnish with a slice of orange.
  • Serve.

Can I use regular ice cubes for my morning cocktail if I forget?

You can use regular ice cubes if you forget to make the cranberry and orange juice ice cubes. But be aware that as the ice cubes melt, they will water down your cocktail.

What else can I add for a garnish?

Traditionally, this brunch cocktail is garnished with a slice of orange. But if you want to add something else, you could also use slices of lime and lemon.

Other options include a spring of mint, a basil leaf, or even candied ginger. Also, you could even add a maraschino cherry if you like.

What is the best orange juice for a morning cocktail?

We’ve made this beverage several times using different brands of orange juice and they were all delicious. So, I’m sure your favorite brand will be just perfect.

We generally get a brand without pulp for a smooth texture. But if you want to kick this up a notch, you can try fresh-squeezed orange juice with the pulp.

Sound like you had a wonderful brunch! I’m so happy you were able to make this recipe versatile enough to fit everyone’s needs. Well done!!

This was for a brunch with drinkers, non-drinkers, and one person who can’t drink carbonated alcohol without getting a horrible headache (which nixes most brunch drinks). I used a silicone mold to make cute ice cubes, and we had prosecco so people could make mimosas or poinsettias with the juice if they didn’t want to mix a vodka drink. The non-drinkers just mixed juices and used the fun ice cubes. This was perfect because everyone had something that made them feel special without me having to buy ingredients for totally different drinks! Two types of juice and two types of booze to please everyone!

Definitely a 5-star brunch vodka cocktail. So easy. So delicious!
